State of Lies takes place in my hometown of Arlington, VA. Before you read the book, you should know that Arlington was originally located within the boundaries of Washington, DC. Arlington sits on the west side of the Potomac River in northern Virginia. It’s a county, not a city, and is home to Arlington National Cemetery, the Iwo Jima Marine Corps War Memorial, and the Pentagon. It’s also the location of the original Five Guys hamburger joint!
Katie Couric, Sandra Bullock, Gena Rowlands, Warren Beatty, and Shirley MacLaine graduated from our high schools. Roberta Flack, John Glenn, Patch Adams, Will Yun Lee, Forrest Tucker, Nicholas Hammond, and Jim Morrison also spent some time here.
